SoleDust processes data on your device and, when iCloud is available, syncs selected app data through your private CloudKit database. SoleDust has no developer account system and uses no third-party analytics, advertising, tracking or crash-reporting services.
Local Storage and Private iCloud
Local copies and caches can include shoes, runs, shoe assignments, preferences, sync state, photos, calendar thumbnails and Studio settings. Private iCloud sync can include shoe details and images; run date, distance, duration, indoor/outdoor state, Health workout identifier and source, shoe assignment, name, notes, race status, place text, weather, terrain and run photos; and versioned Studio settings.
The private CloudKit database belongs to the signed-in iCloud user and is not visible to the developer. Exact GPS routes, heart-rate samples, step-count samples and derived calendar thumbnails are not uploaded as app records.
Apple Health — Read Only
With your permission, SoleDust reads running and walking workouts, workout routes, heart-rate samples and step-count samples to import activities, calculate shoe mileage and show run details. SoleDust requests no write access and never modifies Apple Health.
Original Health records remain in Apple Health. Selected workout metadata may be copied into SoleDust run records and synced to private iCloud. You can revoke access in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → SoleDust.
GPS, MapKit, WeatherKit and Terrain
SoleDust does not request your device’s current location. For outdoor workouts, it can temporarily read the exact recorded GPS route from Apple Health.
MapKit displays routes, derives place text and helps estimate road/trail terrain. WeatherKit uses a representative route coordinate and workout time to retrieve historical weather. The coordinates needed for these requests are sent to Apple’s services.
Only derived place text, weather summaries and terrain percentages may sync to private iCloud. The exact GPS route does not.
Photos, Camera, Motion and Sharing
Camera and photo-library access are used only when you choose to take, select or save an image. Shoe and run images are stored locally and may sync as assets in private iCloud.
Motion data is used transiently for onboarding milestone physics and is not saved or synced.
Studio artwork is rendered on your device and sent to Photos, the iOS share sheet or a selected social app only when you initiate export or sharing. Once exported, the copy is controlled by Photos or the receiving app.
Find Photo Online opens Google image search and websites in an in-app browser. The shoe brand and model are included in the search query. If you import an image, its source URL, page title and import date may be stored locally and privately synced.
Retention, Deletion and Security
Local and private-iCloud data is retained while needed for the app and cross-device sync. Removing a run, shoe or photo removes its visible content and syncs the change. A minimal private-iCloud deletion marker may remain to prevent deleted content from reappearing on another device.
Deleting the app removes local SoleDust data only. To remove all SoleDust data from private iCloud, use Apple’s iCloud storage controls. Exported copies must be deleted separately from Photos or receiving apps.
SoleDust never deletes original workouts from Apple Health. Health-authorized activities may therefore be imported again while the app remains connected.
Local data is protected by iOS app sandboxing, while synced data uses Apple’s private CloudKit database. SoleDust is not directed at children and does not create behavioral profiles.
